Join Debbie from Creative Clay for All, in this story inspired clay workshop. Using air drying clay, children will create their own piece of unique art inspired by the story, The Wind in the Willows.

Tuesday 18th October 10.30 – 11.00 am

Dorchester Library will be theming their regular Rhyme time sessions to ‘Food’. Children will love hearing about Frankie’s Food Truck which serves different shaped food every day. There’ll be rhymes and actions galore for everyone to enjoy. 

Wednesday 19th October 10.30 am

online event Pre-schools and schools will be invited to this event with Award winning Eileen Browne, the author and illustrator of the three hugely successful Handa books, Handa’s Surprise, Handa’s Hen and Handa’s Noisy Night as well as a host of other titles. Eileen’s online events are lively, fun and perfect for 3-7 year olds. There will be story reading plus music and movement for everyone to join in. Children will see how picture books are printed; what they look like before they’re cut and bound and they’ll find out where Handa lives.

online event Schools will be invited to join Award Winning author Ali Sparkes who has written a host of books including Thunderstruck, Shapeshifters series, S.W.I.T.C.H series, Unleashed series, Car Jacked, Night Forever and more. Ali will use a variety of props and costumes as part of her presentation and will talk about how she became an author, some of the fascinating facts behind her books and answer any questions the children may have. Children will be inspired to read and write for pleasure.

Friday 21st October 2.00 – 2.30 pm

Dorchester library will be theming their regular Rhyme time session to ‘Food’. Join us in celebrating the classic and very popular children’s picture book, Each Peach Pear Plum. There will be lots of food themed rhymes to sing along to and shake your instruments at. 

Saturday 22nd October 10:00 – 10.30 am

Join Dorchester Library staff for a special Supertato themed Library Gets Lively session. The Supertato books are hilarious and fun-filled adventure stories, packed with bright and bold illustrations. Children and adults alike adore the wacky Supertato characters. Kids love searching for the Evil Pea lurking in the supermarket aisles and the silly humour in the stories.

Saturday 22nd October 1pm – 2.30pm

Writing Out Loud – a workshop for young people to write and perform their own work 11+ with Rohan Gotobed. Rohan will lead games and exercises based around taking inspiration from the world around them, especially Dorset’s rich landscape. Young people will be inspired to create poetry by discussing images representing different places around Dorset. They’ll have to think about different stories that could happen in these locations, describing them through poems before then each having time to write a short piece in response. They will then read out their pieces, with some hints and tips on how to perform to an audience.
